My Prayer to Mother

Mother may I return to you the light of your Son,
Mother may I honor all He freely won.
Mother may His attributes be shining within me,
Mother may His law define who I will be.

Mother may I withstand the darts of darkness known,
Mother may I nurture the tree we have grown.
Mother may your spark shine within me each day,
Mother may I cherish you by walking in Christ's way.

Mother may forgiveness and meekness fill my heart,
Mother may I always choose the kinder nobler part.
Mother may pure charity answer every test,
Mother may I honor you by giving my very best.

Mother when I ere may I repent with a broken heart,
Mother may I be restored and with purpose fill my part.
Mother may I keep thy holy Son with me.
Mother may I witness of the One who set me free.

Mother may I honor your great sacrifice of love,
Mother may I cherish my Savior who rules above.
Mother may His precepts determine where I go,
Mother may I testify of all I have come to know.

Mother may I worship with reverence my Heavenly King,
Mother may I always find the strength to sing.
Mother here I am sending you this prayer,
The words of a daughter who truly wants to share.

Mother may you smile and grant me a way through grace,
Mother may my hopes and wishes through Christ become my place.

The Father of our Family

The Father of our family, the King who gives us place,
The power of our sealing, the bounty of his grace.
The beauty of our bodies and the joy of life,
The sacred bonds shared between husband and wife.

The child within me, the joy of motherhood,
I hold the gift of God and see that life is good.
A miracle growing my body holds his love,
Cradled in my womb a child of God above.

Sweet sacred blessings that Jesus Christ brought,
The miracle of his offering cannot be forgot.
Her delicate movements are my very heart,
I rejoice in God's power and my sacred part.

Your hands around me as we rejoice in her life,
I look toward heaven, thankful to be your wife.
This is his plan, his purpose and way,
My family is the miracle I will cherish each day!

Tender sacred moments he kept in Gethsemane,
The sweetness of my family is God's Tree.
Partaking I experience the gift of His love,
Here with you I've tasted heaven above.

Eternal life and progression according to his word,
How great is the goodness of our dear Lord!

 A Gift

A warrior, a teacher who changes what will be.
A persuasive guide who helps you see.

A protector, a guardian of life,
A mother, a daughter, a cherished wife.

A servant the least of all,
A disciple who answers God's call.

A survivor, an understanding friend,
A nurse who can heal and mend.

A counselor, a source of warmth and light,
A comforter through the long lonely night.

A patient seeker of God's will,
A faithful child grateful and still.

A cook, a chef who stirs up love,
A master baker for God above.

A prodigal who knows God's holy Son,
A merciful neighbor who shares all Christ won.

A willing giver, a hope sustained,
An unfailing heart that continues when pained.

An architect constructing holy light,
A creator of moments fun and bright.

A coach, a cheerleader, an advocate for you,
The girl in sweats who sees you through.

The courageous woman who stands when faint,
The ship’s captain, a true saint.

A late night listener, a praiser of work,
A determined doer who will not shirk.

A cookie lover who lets you go first,
The one who loves you when you’re at your worst.

A trip planner, a shopper extraordinaire,
A friend who loves to do your hair.

A foot stomper who draws a line,
The sweetest spirit that helps you shine.

A voice of calm, a steady hand,
A friend who likes to play in the sand.

A diaper changer, a laundry doer,
A talent supporter, a dream pursuer.

A Strength for Youth quoter, a commandment keeper,
An excellent shopper who loves what's cheaper.

An angry bear who won't let go,
A gentle forgiver who loves you so.

A prayer instigator, a reverent sight,
A gift from heaven sweet and bright.

A mother, a friend, a sister so dear,
A gift from God to reverence and revere.

"As daughters of our Heavenly Father, and as daughters of Eve, we are all mothers and we have always been mothers. And we each have the responsibility to love and help lead the rising generation. How will our young women learn to live as women of God unless they see what women of God look like, meaning what we wear, watch, and read; how we fill our time and our minds; how we face temptation and uncertainty; where we find true joy; and why modesty and femininity are hallmarks of righteous women? How will our young men learn to value women of God if we don’t show them the virtue of our virtues? Every one of us has an overarching obligation to model righteous womanhood because our youth may not see it anywhere else. Every sister in Relief Society, which is the most significant community of women on this side of the veil, is responsible to help our young women make a joyful transition into Relief Society. This means our friendship with them must begin long before they turn 18. Every one of us can mother someone—beginning, of course, with the children in our own families but extending far beyond. Every one of us can show by word and by deed that the work of women in the Lord’s kingdom is magnificent and holy. I repeat: We are all mothers in Israel, and our calling is to love and help lead the rising generation through the dangerous streets of mortality." Sherrie Dew

The Sky

The night sky is sparkling my Lord,
Shining with thy perfect word!
The night sky is beautiful my King,
Glimmering with all you bring!
The night sky is resplendent and bright,
Glowing with heavens light!
I smile when I see you above,
You dazzle me with the brilliance of love!
