"And now, because of the covenant which ye have made ye shall be called the children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters; for behold, this day he hath spiritually begotten you; for ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name; therefore, ye are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters."  Mosiah 5:7

What Love

In the anguish of His sufferings he saw His family,
In the weight of His burden, He grew God's family tree.
In the agony of our sins He kept our hope and love,
In the chastisement of our peace, He honored God above.

As he bore our griefs, He saw eternity,
As He suffered our shame, He kept God's family.
As he carried our sorrows, He prepared the way,
As He suffered in the garden, He ensured that we could stay.

What love holds a perfect God to suffering and pain?
What love caused Him to cleanse and take our stain?
What worth can match the agony of all He knew?
What love called our Father to do what He would do?

Behold God's holy children. See His family divine,
Behold His sons and daughters, He stayed so we could shine.
Behold the joy each faithful child will know,
Behold the family He stayed to grow.

How sacred the blessing of the Father of heaven and earth,
How sacred the miracle of each spiritual rebirth.
How sacred the truth of all that will be,
How sacred the miracle of Gods family tree.

Divine and resplendent by the grace of our King,
Divine and resplendent all He will bring.
Divine and resplendent all He doth seal,
Divine and resplendent all we will feel.

Zion brought forth by God's holy Son,
Zion our city the gift He won!
Zion together in pure love and unity,
Zion God's children, cleansed and made free.

Hosanna, hosanna, to God and the Lamb,
Hosanna, hosanna to the great I Am!
Hosanna, hosanna we shout for thee,
Hosanna, hosanna, you set us free!

Bound or Free

Central to His plan, the joy of you and me,
Central to his plan, each family tree.
Central to His plan is the sanctity of life,
Central to His plan each husband and wife.
Central to His plan each child so dear,
Central to His plan our joy and cheer.

Necessary to our happiness is the path He brought,
Necessary to our salvation is all He taught.
Necessary to eternal life is His sacred decree,
Necessary  to our joy is the truth we must see.
Necessary if our family is to endure,
Necessary is His foundation strong and sure.

Those who defy His laws and way,
Those who will not be blessed to stay.
Those who have sought for joy in dark,
Those who will face a place stark.
Those who refuse to follow and grow,
Those who will reap what they sow.
Those who will know a prisons power,
Those who will not abide His hour.

Conditions set His law divine,
Conditions set so we must shine.
Conditions that guard the gate of light,
Conditions that demand we stand and fight.
Conditions that bring the saints high,
Conditions that demand the sinner die.

O man do you embrace His path?
Or do you choose God's holy wrath?
O man do you see the cost of sin?
You cannot rebel and think to win.
O man the hour is soon to be,
When your choice will be all you see.
O man will you lose your chance for love?
Will you reject your God above?

His family and all His holy light,
Will shine pure, clear and bright.
His holy sons will carry all,
Standing noble, pure and tall.
All his children will take their place,
And grow amid His power and grace.
Holy day when the earth and all,
Will hear the power of the Masters call?
Bound or free in that moment divine,
Will you know misery, or will you shine?

Recently while visiting with a friend we see at the grocery store, she shared that she was gay and married to a woman.  As we talked she told me she thought it was okay to, “try something new and different.” As I listened to her I looked inside my heart and having memorized The Family: A Proclamation to the World, I told her my beliefs regarding the family and quoted the line, “that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God.”

I listened to her thoughts and feelings and was kind but I did not acquiesce.  It was a powerful and important moment, my teenage daughter watched as I offered love but also a firm testimony of my beliefs.  As we left she said, “Mom you handled that so well, it felt like she wanted you to say what she was doing was okay.  I am so glad you didn’t.”

We each have moments when someone presents darkness and calls it light.  As Isiah said so long ago, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”  Calling sin good is a lie, living outside of Gods laws is wrong.  There will be consequences for those who defy God’s sacred laws.

The story of the city of Sodom and Gomorra demonstrates the consequence of gross sexual sin.  The angels sent to the city said to Lot, “we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.” The angels helped Lot and his family escape and, “Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.”

So it will be before He returns at the great millennial day.  He will cleanse the earth with fire.  The wicked who have defied his laws and committed sins and whoredoms will be destroyed and placed in spirit prison.  They will not live upon the earth during the millennium. We as children of God were sent here to be tested and prove ourselves.  If the result of our test is that we have yielded ourselves to be subjects of the devil then the consequences of our choices will be the justice of God for He has said, ““ I cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance”.  The least degree of allowance includes every sin such as gay relationships, adultery, pornography, abuse of innocent children, and un-chastity in all its forms.

One of the statements I quote often from Thomas S. Monson is this, “decisions determine destiny.” We see a beautiful reminder of this truth in the words of another great prophet Alma.  He said, “And if their works are evil they shall be restored unto them for evil. Therefore, all things shall be restored to their proper order, every thing to its natural frame—mortality raised to immortality, corruption to incorruption—raised to endless happiness to inherit the kingdom of God, or to endless misery to inherit the kingdom of the devil, the one on one hand, the other on the other—The one raised to happiness according to his desires of happiness, or good according to his desires of good; and the other to evil according to his desires of evil; for as he has desired to do evil all the day long even so shall he have his reward of evil when the night cometh.”  We are each writing our own ending.  Our use of free agency will lead us to joy or misery.  It is important to remember that, “wickedness never was happiness.”

When the Night Comes

When the night cometh and time is done,

Men will receive all that they won.

Their actions determining what will be,

Bound by sin or clean and free.

No time to alter when that hour is come,

We then will face God’s power and throne.

No unclean thing will stand and stay,

Our choices will be the truth of that day.

When the night cometh where will you be?

Alive and cleansed or in misery?

O man do you see the weight of sin,

The path of darkness brings no win.

For in a moment the day is done,

The night is there and we see God’s Son.

Viewed from prison or with life and light,

The peace of the night is a life lived right.

Another sobering reminder from holy prophets and apostles is found at the end of The Family: A Proclamation to the World, “We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.”

We are seeing a fulfillment of these great prophetic warnings even now.  The world has become as Sodom and Gomorra.  Infidelity and un-chastity and terrible whoredoms are committed across the earth daily.  Soon there will be a final reckoning, the Lord our God will rend the veil and His hand of power will cleanse this earth with fire.  He will bring forth a new world of light and beauty.  Chastity and righteousness will be the order and way of His children.  His family of faithful saints will shine forth and live in joy and peace for a thousand years with their God.

I testify that Jesus is the Christ the immortal Son of God.  I testify that happiness and eternal life are found by keeping His commandments.  May each of us study and live the standards outlined in The Family: a Proclamation to the World.  This sacred document defines how the family should live now and how it will live when He returns.

Matthew 7:24-29
24 ¶ Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

His Family

He didn't have to stay, He chose us every one,
So we could become  His daughter or His Son.
He stayed and took our burdens, so His strength would be ours.
He stayed so He could heal our deepest scars.

He stayed with greatest love holding me and you.
He stayed to keep us all, though we were untrue.
He stayed and felt our heartache so we would never be alone,
He stayed amid our suffering that joy could be known.

He stayed and took the stain of our sins and shame,
He stayed so we could change and take His sacred name.
He stayed and walked the dusty road that led to Calvary,
He stayed and carried us that we could be set free.

He stayed until it was finished then took one final breath,
He stayed and gave His life to conquer sin and death.
He stayed to bring the joy that could be,
He stayed to be our Father for all eternity.

Will you take His name and become His child true?
Will you clasp the hand of the one who died for you?
Will you step with faithfulness toward God's holy Son?
Will you keep your Father and everything He won?

How sacred the miracle of the One sent to save,
How sacred His sacrifice that opens each grave.
How sacred to carry His name every hour,
How sacred to feel His heavenly shower.

How sacred the Father who offered His best,
How sacred to know we can pass this test.
How sacred the gift of our Redeemer so dear,
How sacred and beautiful to keep Him near.

To become His family is to honor the gift,
If we walk His path he will heal sins rift.
To be His family is to embrace the way,
His sons and daughters will obey.

His family will know Him when He comes once more,
His children are those who faithfully endure.

Multiple Eternities

Multiple eternities held by one,
Multiple families saved by God's Son.
Multiple paths each one divine,
Multiple chances for each to shine.

Multiple love stories held with care,
Multiple chances to give and share.
Multiple smiles and laughter known,
Multiple beauty sweetly grown.

Multiple views of our dear King,

Multiple reasons to smile and sing.
Many voices join as one,
And praise with joy, God's dear Son.

Thank you Jesus for bringing us here,

Because of you we sing with cheer.
Glorious Savior we live in thee,
Your sacrifice has set us free.

Hosanna, Hosanna our life is new,

Hosanna, hosanna we sing to you!.

Pennies So Dear

The weight of one penny so light in my hand,

The weight of one circle so precious and grand.

I hold then a hundred and I see,

Pennies like people are equal and free.

Each one created by their dear King,

Each one is valued and saved from deaths sting.

No dimes, nickels or quarters to see,

No all are dear pennies equal and free.

Some serve visibly, some quiet yet known,

Each offering is priceless when lovingly shown.

Some struggle by with little of wealth,

Some struggle through with very poor health,

Some know the joy of true and pure love,

Some wait for blessings kept high above.

No matter the gifts received or in store,

No penny is better or worth more.

High in the heavens our Father does see,

A future with blessings for both you and me.

The design of the Maker leaves no worthy soul out,

Your worth is sacred, you must never doubt.

The only condition of what you receive,

Is your choice to follow Christ and believe.

If you prove faithful you one day will rise,

High to your Father who rules in the skies.

Then He will grant every blessing denied,

Your worth very clear, you will stay and reside.

Beautiful and precious God’s children of worth,

Their value so sacred from their moment of birth.

A part of his heart, shining and clear,

Equal and precious each child dear.

No quarters, dimes or nickels to see,

No each child is a penny precious and free!

"I love the God of my fathers,“the Lord God Almighty,” who weeps with us in our sorrows, patiently chastens our unrighteousness, and rejoices when we seek to “give away all [our] sins to know [Him].”I worship Him, who is ever “a father of the fatherless” and a companion to the companionless. Gratefully, I testify that I have come to know God, my Father, and bear witness of the perfections, attributes, and “excellency of [His] character.” Brian K. Taylor

Reunited by Christ

Saying good bye with the hope of hello,
With faith I let my parents go.
My courage the promise of my dear King,
I knew the light that He would bring.
His promise to rescue each repentant soul,
His promise that I could reach my goal.
My hope His sacrifice, my life His gift,
My way past sin and hells rift
The gaping distance His to fill,
Restoration and life, my Fathers will.

My dearest daughter I let you go,
Your life a chance to learn and grow.
Refining moments to change your heart,
This life your chance to choose your part.
My desire that you would grow and see,
The God of Israel who set you free.
That you would humbly change and be,
Born again, alive and free.
I gave my only begotten Son for you,
To bring you back and make you new.

Reunited by my Heavenly King,
Behold the joy He chose to bring.
My heart healed I'm home with you,
My garments clean, I am new.
The peace of heaven, Christs sacrifice,
I am yours because He paid the price.
My heart is full I understand,
Your will and purpose, divine and grand.
You said goodbye and ensured my way,
Because of Christ I live today!
