Empty Bag

She packed her bag with worldly care,
She packed her place and journeyed there.
She chose each day the lesser part,
From God and light she did depart.
She packed up lots of empty fun,
Refusing to follow God's holy Son.
She put in pride and a store of lies,
She grabbed her bag and ignored the skies.
Not seeing she found herself bound,
Then she heard this glorious sound.
I have trodden the wine press for my fold,
I keep with me the purest gold.
Come forth in joy my faithful and true,
My blood has cleansed and purchased you.
In her prison with misery she saw,
The truth of God and every law.
Rebellious and defiant she faced her choice,
She had hearkened to the evil voice.
Her bag reflected the enemies way,
Justice demanded she suffer and stay.
No light or beauty, for she now knew,
That peace is found by being true.

"Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white through the blood of Christ, who will come to redeem his people from their sins? Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not ye are not prepared to meet God. Behold ye must prepare quickly; for the kingdom of heaven is soon at hand, and such an one hath not eternal life. Behold, I say, is there one among you who is not stripped of envy? I say unto you that such an one is not prepared; and I would that he should prepare quickly, for the hour is close at hand, and he knoweth not when the time shall come; for such an one is not found guiltless. And again I say unto you, is there one among you that doth make a mock of his brother, or that heapeth upon him persecutions? Wo unto such an one, for he is not prepared, and the time is at hand that he must repent or he cannot be saved! Yea, even wo unto all ye workers of iniquity; repent, repent, for the Lord God hath spoken it!" Alma 5:27-32

"And it shall come to pass, because of the wickedness of the world, that I will take vengeance upon the wicked, for they will not repent; for the cup of mine indignation is full; for behold, my blood shall not cleanse them if they hear me not." D&C 29:17

"A few years ago, my friends had a beautiful baby named Brigham. After his birth, Brigham was diagnosed with a rare condition called Hunter syndrome, which sadly meant that Brigham would have a short life. One day while Brigham and his family were visiting the temple grounds, Brigham pronounced a particular phrase; twice he said, “One more day.” The very next day, Brigham passed away. I have visited Brigham’s grave a few times, and every time I do, I contemplate the phrase “one more day.” I wonder what it would mean, what effect it would have in my life to know that I had only one more day to live. How would I treat my wife, my children, and others? How patient and polite would I be? How would I take care of my body? How fervently would I pray and search the scriptures? I think that, in one way or another, we all at some point will have a “one more day” realization—a realization that we must use wisely the time we have." Elder Taylor G. Godoy

"The path toward fulfilling our divine destiny as sons and daughters of God is an eternal one. My dear brothers and sisters, dear friends, we must begin to walk that eternal path today; we cannot take for granted one single day. I pray that we will not wait until we are ready to die before we truly learn to live." Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Joyful Luggage

Pack your soul with virtues light,
Keep your lamp trimmed and bright.
Gather up Gods truth with care,
Give your life and choose to share.
Follow, quick the Masters call,
Stand with honor straight and tall.
Let charity guide your path ahead,
Let every loving word be said.
Let honesty and sacrifice show,
Let your soul meekly glow.
Let Zion shine and ring clear,
Let God and mercy keep you near.
The bride groom is ready and at the door,
Will you choose less or be ready for more?
Only the repentant and faithful will stay,
On that glorious, sacred millennial day.
The trip you're planning will be for you,
The life you chose and all you knew.
May you seek God's holy Son,
And find with joy the gift He won.
May your place be His world made knew,
May the bag you packed bring joy to you.

"Will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you? Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me" 3 Nephi 9:13-14
