God’s Kingdom

The sacred ordinance of baptism, is a witness to my Father above,

That I will follow my Savior and minister with love.

Immersed in the water I am raised a disciple of God;

A sacred covenant I have made to hold to the iron rod!

I promise to live as His servant and help my fellow man,

To teach and spread the gospel, to give all that I can.

Obedience is my watch word, for it binds me to my God,

My heart is ever mindful to keep my feet gospel shod.

I will follow the word of wisdom, that my body may be clean,

I will honor the law of the tithe that His blessings I may bring.

My hands will seek to lift others who stand in need,

That loyalty to my God may be shown through word and deed.

I will seek that which is praiseworthy and of good report,

That I may have His spirit and qualify for His work.

I am not my own for my Savior has claim on me,

I will keep my baptismal promise, and His faithful servant be.

The Holy Ghost will guide me as I journey through my life,

A constant true companion that will lead me far from strife.

This member of the God head will comfort me when I’m sad,

He will inspire and guide me daily and make my heart feel glad!

As a member of God’s kingdom I am entitled to this constant gift,

That between me and my Savior there need never be a rift.

As I honor the commandments and live each day with care,

The spirit will live within me as I minister and share.

Through the Holy Ghost I am tied to the Father and Son,

My daily struggle against evil, through the spirit can be won!

Forever I am changed by the choice to join my King,

I stand His friend and disciple, I will seek His light to bring.

My journey will not be easy, but my purpose is true,

A member of God’s kingdom, I have His work to do!

I am not my own, for I have taken my Savior’s name,

A child of His kingdom, on me He has a claim.

"At baptism we make a covenant with our Heavenly Father that we are willing to come into His kingdom and keep His commandments from that time forward, even though we still live in the world. We are reminded from the Book of Mormon that our baptism is a covenant to “stand as witnesses of God [and His kingdom] at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life” Robert D. Hales

This is a beautiful talk given by one of my favorite apostles of God! I am so very thankful for the light he has added to me. Please take fifteen minutes and let the power of this talk strengthen you today. I promise you will be better for doing so.

I am grateful for the restoration of Jesus Christ's church upon the earth! I am grateful for Joseph Smith who was a true prophet called of God. I rejoice in the blessings of the priesthood, by which the ordinances or baptism and confirmation are performed. I walk each day carrying the name of my Savior and the gift of the Holy Ghost because of those sacred ordinances. Brothers and sisters we must come to the light of the world and covenant to follow Him. Baptism is a necessary step for each child of God who wants to return to the presence of God. Our beloved Redeemer though sinless was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He showed us the way! I pray we will follow our Heavenly King for He is the light, the life and the hope of the world!

This is a beautiful rendition of When I Am Baptized and the video is amazing! I have included the lyrics to this beautiful song, so you can read and enjoy.:)

When I Am Baptized

1. I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain
And ponder on the beauty of an earth made clean again.

2. I know when I am baptized my wrongs are washed away,
And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day.

I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain.
I want to be the best I can and live with God again.
