I read President Henry B. Eyrings message on lds.org and felt inspired to write this poem. I am grateful for his powerful message of light! Here is a link to the message that inspired
fought for my King, I stood and faced you then,
A darkened spirit of lies, who sought the agency of men.
war cry rang through me as I looked at you,
For to my Father and King I was loyal and true.
no question; I would stand with holy light,
And wield the sword of truth, giving all to this fight.
God’s valiant angels I battled with zeal,
My love for my God was the strength you did feel.
we struck you down with one final blast,
Your fate was sealed, the die set and cast.
To earth you went
and in misery did wait,
For the birth of the faithful into their mortal state.
And so we began this battle
The dragon against the faithful and true.
Each moment of our life you seek to ensnare,
To seduce, to deceive, to cause pain and despair.
A master of evil who has nothing to gain,
Your joy is to bring suffering and pain.
Yet in this battle we still stand with power,
Sustained by our God in this difficult hour.
We have everything to gain as we resist you,
our God was born to cleanse and make new.
By the power of our King we can return and find rest,
back by His grace, eternally blest!
So I stand again and fight for my King,
I follow His plan, for victory
He will bring!
Each day I put on my armor with care,
My strength is the light that heaven doth share.
I push you back as I did once before,
My fight here on earth will settle the score.
For when I am finished my King will return,
Iniquity will cease and the wicked will burn.
The earth made new by our Heavenly King,
Joy and healing our Redeemer will bring!
will break forth into beautiful song,
Acknowledging our Savior who made our fight strong.
For a thousand
years we will live with our King,
Enfolded in love and the peace He will bring!
And then one last time
you will try as you must,
But we will stand forth and keep our God’s trust.
The forces of light
will see the dragon cast out,
No more to return, with joy we will shout!
Then with our Father in His kingdom
We will feel of His love as we stand in His sight!
The battle now finished we will rejoice in
Who humbly gave all that this fight would be won!
