My Net

I toiled all the night to fill my empty net,
Yet each time I pulled it up, within my heart I wept.
For nothing was found, though I labored with great care,
My empty net before me caused my soul despair.
Slumping my shoulders I placed my head within my hand,
I might as well give up I thought, and turned my ship toward land.
Then I heard your voice like a beacon in the dark,
Cast your net on the other side, things are not so stark.
Master I said, I trust your watchful care,
If you promise a blessing, I know it will be there.
So in faith again I dropped my net down below,
Knowing that my God could comfort and bestow.
As I raised my net true joy filled my soul,
For God had given me more, than I had thought to know.
My net was full to bursting, and my heart ached with love,
As I beheld the blessings sent from God above!

Waiting upon the Lord: Thy Will Be Done

Robert D. Hales is a wonderful and inspiring apostle of God! I am thankful for his testimony and teachings. In this conference address he said, "Too often we pray to have patience, but we want it right now! As a young man, President David O. McKay prayed for a witness of the truthfulness of the gospel. Many years later, while he was serving his mission in Scotland, that witness finally came. Later he wrote, “It was an assurance to me that sincere prayer is answered ‘sometime, somewhere.’” We may not know when or how the Lord’s answers will be given, but in His time and His way, I testify, His answers will come. For some answers we may have to wait until the hereafter. This may be true for some promises in our patriarchal blessings and for some blessings for family members. Let us not give up on the Lord. His blessings are eternal, not temporary."

Like the girl in Breana's artwork we sometimes get tired of laboring and waiting. The trials of life usually go on far longer than we want them to, and we are left at times feeling alone and tired. Job struggled, prayed, waited and finally at last his nets were filled to bursting. God gave him more than he had before the trial of his faith. I testify that God is there and He does have a plan for each of us. He does here our prayers and he will answer in His time and way. We must live faithfully and worthily that we may be ready for the great blessings He will give. I testify that the soul stretching trials that we want to end quickly go on for our own gain. As we wait upon the Lord we are able to acquire the divine attributes we need to become like him. A big part of our waiting upon the Lord is actually connected to our preparation. I think He is often waiting upon us to be ready and worthy of the great blessings He will send. Brothers and sisters I testify that God loves us! I testify that our trials have a purpose and as we endure with honor and prepare with diligence the answers and blessings will come.
