What Have I Done for Someone Today

Warm Fuzzies

If our heart were viewed by others as a jar displaying our love,
Would the jar be full of warm fuzzies that please God above?
Would the truth of all we are be found in acts quiet and kind,
Or would our jar display a self-centered state of mind?
Would the empty space of all we did not do,
Stand a witness of our refusal to be good, kind and true?
If the jar of our heart was a ticket to our eternal home,
Would we seek to fill it with kindnesses we’ve shown?
Each day we can add more warm fuzzies as we live,
A kind word, a helping hand, the choice to always give.
The jar we are creating can be full and bright and fun;
A testimony to our Father of all the good we’ve done!

What Have I Done for Someone Today?

It is a wonderful blessing to be guided by a true prophet of God! We love Thomas S. Monson so much! In this wonderful talk he shared one of his favorite poems!

"Many years ago I heard a poem which has stayed with me, by which I have tried to guide my life. It’s one of my favorites:"

I have wept in the night
For the shortness of sight
That to somebody’s need made me blind;
But I never have yet
Felt a tinge of regret
For being a little too kind.

"My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness—be they family members, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us."

It is powerful and profound to be told by a true prophet, that God is depending on you. I know that his words are true. We need to be in tune with our Savior so He can depend on us to be His hands. Being in tune requires effort. We have to seek the spirit through daily prayer, scripture study, faithfully following the commandments, living with a humble heart and serving worthily in the temple. I testify that as we seek to follow Christ faithfully, He will be able to depend on us to be His hands. Beautiful things happen when Christ can depend on us. We will add sunshine and joy to others lives! We will spread hope and help others find peace. We will bring laughter to a lonely heart. It's like watching magic happen when you watch someone reach out with true Christ like love!:)

Have I Done Any Good?

The lyrics to this hymn are beautiful, so I included them for you to read! Enjoy!

1. Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone's burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?
(Chorus)
Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.
2. There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, "Sometime I'll try,"
But go and do something today.
'Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love's labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.
