Substance of Faith

By Faith

By faith Mary believed the angel, and bore Heavenly Fathers Son,
By faith Enoch beheld God’s children and all things that would come.
By faith Esther's people were rescued in the moment of their need,
By faith Moses parted the waters and saw his people freed.
By faith Joseph interpreted the plates that God gave to him,
By faith Helaman and his sons found the strength to win.
By faith Ammon protected the flocks as he stood alone.
By faith Peter preached the gospel and made our Savior known.
By faith Abinidi testified and feared not the threats of men,
By faith the lions were tamed while Daniel was in the den.
By faith Noah built an ark and all his family were spared,
By faith Ruth stayed with Naomi, showing her she cared.
By faith Lehi lead his family to the Promised Land,
By faith as the arrows flew Samuel had the courage to stand.
By faith the saints walked toward Zion with a song of hope in their heart,
By faith King Lamoni repented and made a brand new start.
By faith Joseph and Sydney beheld the kingdoms of God,
By faith we believe their witness and hold to the iron rod.
By faith we navigate this darkened world of sin,
By faith we find the strength we need to battle and to win.
By faith we like the great ones can bring blessings and power,
By faith our Fathers ears are opened, and he sends a heavenly shower.

Fourth Floor, Last Door

I love to ponder the talks given at general conference. I have heard many talks on faith and think this one is especially unique because Dieter F. Uchtdorf addressed what faith cannot do. After listening to this beautiful talk many times I sat down to write, this poem is what followed. I hope it inspires you to look up and believe that God is there; even when the answers you seek aren't found in the way you hoped for. I testify that God loves us and blesses us in the ways that are right according to our faith and His timing and will for us. The outcome of our perfect Father's blessings will always be better than anything we can plan.

Faith

Faith is trust in Heavenly Fathers plan for you,
Faith is the courage to be patient, humble and true.
Faith is believing that you are loved and held with care,
Faith accepts the answers God chooses not to share.
Faith endures the hurt of being told no,
Faith believes that one day all answers He will show.
Faith allows others to choose and be free,
Faith endures injustices that simply must be.
Faith surrenders everything and by so doing finds relief,
Faith overcomes emptiness, the pain of loss and grief.
Faith sees past what cannot be and believes in something more,
Faith sees that one door closed can lead your soul to more.
Faith is more than having everything your way,
Faith gives you the courage to stand another day!

When You Believe!

One of my favorite passages of scripture is found in Moroni chapter seven; "And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved. And now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are true which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you, with power and great glory at the last day, that they are true, and if they are true has the day of miracles ceased? Or have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost from them? Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved? Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain." I am grateful for the words of Mormon. I am grateful for the restoration which has placed the Book of Mormon in my hands. I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God, restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I rejoice in the sacred priesthood power that blesses my life and brings miracles to me and my children when we need them. I will forever be indebted to my Heavenly Fathers for the miracles that have sustained, comforted and blessed me. Truly there can be miracles!:)

Having Courage & Trusting the Lord

Seeing by Faith

To see with eyes of faith is to see what is not there,
It's looking past the here and now with reverence and care.
Faith requires effort for it is found as we seek light,
It's strength is ours to have if we want our Fathers sight.
Faith requires meekness, humility and love,
Like fuel to our fire, faith lifts our eyes above.
Faith can move a mountain or help you climb a hill,
It's rooted in our Father and guided by His will.
Faith can open the way when your lost and alone,
It's power is a great beacon guiding you towards home.
Faith gives you courage when the storm of life descends,
Like a compass amid your trials it guides you through life's bends.
Faith is a constant companion when all others leave your side,
A friend of strength and wisdom you can trust as your guide.
Faith can move you forward no matter the pain or cost,
It's power is the way when everything feels lost.
Faith turns on the lights of heaven in the darkest empty place,
It lifts you to your Father and ignites your Saviors grace.
Faith invites the spirit and the comfort it doth bring,
Faith will help you find peace and cause your soul to sing!
Across the broad expanse of adversity faith is a power true and sure,
It will guide you past the enemy and help your soul endure!

Pure and Simple Faith!

This beautiful daughter of God reminds me of Ester and Moses. She relied on her Heavenly Father and prayed in faith for the help she needed. The miracle that followed was beautiful and sacred. I testify that God's hand is in the tapestry of our lives! He can and will bless us as we turn in faith to Him!:)

Walk on the Water!

To me overcoming through faith is the equivalent of walking on the water. A new calling that overwhelms you can be for you an ocean to journey across. The list of trials that require faith to overcome them is as big as this world we live in. A body of water that seems impossible to walk across could be depression, illness, loneliness, school, difficult family relationships or financial problems. Faith ignites us to move into action, it helps us drop to our knees and seek for help. It is the force that will move us to do our Father's will and take the needed steps despite our weakness and fear. I testify that as we turn to God we can overcome our fear through faith and walk on water!:)
