My Pottage

My soul for a mess of pottage was the deal presented to me,
My enemy offered me nothing, but I accepted his offer with glee.
My soul for a mess of pottage was given with each sin,
My soul was won by the enemy, who valued not the win.
My soul for a mess of pottage was given for my pride,
My soul unwilling to repent, will not stand by Gods side.
My soul will inherit less than could have been my gain,
My eternal punishment will be my pottage and my pain.

According to the Desires of Our Hearts

This is a wonderful inspiring talk given by Neal A. Maxwell! In this talk he said, "Therefore, what we insistently desire, over time, is what we will eventually become and what we will receive in eternity. “For I [said the Lord] will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts”. Alma said, “I know that [God] granteth unto men according to their desire, … I know that he allotteth unto men … according to their wills."

Desire is at the heart of every choice, thought, action and inaction of our lives. I hope each of us will take an inventory of our desires and find the courage to throw out unworthy desires.

Your Kingdom

The kingdom you write is the story you choose,
Like an author you decide what you win or lose.
Through choices you transform your ending each day,
Some write of immorality, greed and disgrace.
Some take the pen of their story with care,
They live in obedience, they lift, love and share.
Some have little concern with the story they write,
Its put down on paper without thought or sight.
Neither hot nor cold, their story luke warm,
Living without God they refuse to transform.
Some writers choose to change from a villain to a King,
They love their Savior and the changes He brings!
Some write with joy of another's bad deed,
Distracted by hatred they follow Satan's lead.
Some writers choose wisdom to guide their pen sure,
They think of their Savior and write so much more!
At the end of mortality we will hold our story in our hand,
Our kingdom of glory will be the one that we planned.
Will you be a hero gentle and kind?
Or a villain selfish, cruel and blind?
We write the kingdom in which we will live,
The outcome is found in the way that we give.
May we each find a pen guided by light,
May the words of our story lead us back to God's sight.
