Grateful in Any Circumstances!

This is one of my all time favorite talks given by Dieter F. Uchtdorf! My perspective on how I should endure my mortal test was expanded as I listened to this beloved apostle of God speak! I wrote a poem to honor this talk and Breana created artwork to honor it as well. The girl in Breana's art is shooting an arrow into a locked door. The arrow represents gratitude and behind the door are all of the other Christlike attributes that she needs to become her best self. In Dieter's talk he said, "Gratitude is a catalyst to all Christlike attributes! A thankful heart is the parent of all virtues." I testify that as we seek to be grateful no matter what, we will find joy amid our difficulties. I am grateful to my loving Heavenly Father and my beloved Savior who have reached out to me amid my trials. I have been enfolded in the arms of their love and changed through the grace of my Savior. I am grateful for Dieter F. Uchtdorf who helped guide me with his inspired words!:)

The Key

A beautiful daughter of God was born to face a test,
To battle through a darkened world and do her very best.
Along the arduous journey she faced demons big and small,
The way to victory would only be found by heeding the Masters call.
His voice whispered, you must open the door to all that I am,
Be grateful my faithful daughter and find the strength to win.
Many difficult moments filled her mortal days,
She wondered at her circumstances and the counsel that he gave.
How can I be happy, I am hurt betrayed and cold,
He wants me to be grateful, but I feel weary and all alone.
Again she heard his whisper, open the door and see,
I'm always here my sister, it's you who holds the key.
Father will you strengthen me and grant me power she prayed,
I cannot win this battle I feel lost alone and afraid.
Again the soft whisper asked her to open the door,
To heavens help and blessings that would help her become more.
Humbly she listened and understanding filled her heart,
I'm trudging through my circumstances with a tired ungrateful heart.
I must journey forward with eyes that truly see,
I'll start by opening the door to all that I can be.
Taking out an arrow she looked ahead with faith,
Her eyes could now see clearly a bright and happy way.
Looking at her target she launched her arrow with care,
And smiled as it hit the target, the light that God would share.
The door to all the attributes she needed opened wide,
She now could use them daily as she journeyed through her life!
Demons big small would still strike out each day,
But she now held an arsenal that would send them on their way!
Meekness, patience, forgiveness, mercy and love,
Would be the gifts that lead her to her Father up above.
Every gift was found when her heart was grateful and true,
To the God who gave her everything and made her heart new!
